Saw the doc today. He had me feel her spine, which sticks out worse than ever before. She is nothing but a skeleton. He yelled at her for losing weight. She thought she was supposed to lose weight. She lost 10 pounds in a month. Some of it was ascites fluid (like water weight), some of it was her muscle mass. He is guessing that she is approximately 100 pounds if she lost the water weight. He told her he shouldn't be able to hold her wrist between his thumb and finger. He's talking feeding tube.
I told him I can't do this anymore. I'm not well, in more ways than one, and I'm not doing this. I've already stopped. I asked for help. He said he'll ask. He doesn't know what to do, but I told him her other symptoms - her erratic behavior like calling the cops over a burrito, how she messes up the bills, how she can't do math, how she doesn't understand what he says so she doesn't follow it and she won't remember it ten minutes later. He finally understands why he's not getting through to her. Yelling doesn't make a difference. It's not her hearing that's gone.
He wants me to check with the new liver specialist regarding the feeding tube. It may not be safe for her now. He has also ordered x-rays of her spine and ribs. She complains of constant pain in her back and sides and she is so thin that he fears she is cracking her bones just by sitting or laying on them. He wants full blood work.
She still doesn't understand why he is upset at her. She thought she was doing so well. She is literally killing herself and has no idea. We went to lunch afterward and there was a donation card on the table. She had three bites of shrimp and salty pasta. The kids with muscular dystrophy have more muscle mass than she does.
